57 Selma Ala Aug 30th 1865 Wedensday The Weather has been quite Cool for some days past being Cloudy with every appearance of rain but with the exception of very slight showers it is very dry still. Lt Switzer of Co. "E" was reported by His own Account to have been Decoyed from the Guard House while on Duty by a U.S. Detective & 2 others who attempted to murder Him. but He got away & arrested all three. the Case is being investigated & the Lt. was either badly duped or badly scared, or both, (Vertically, at left:-) Recd per mail to night one paper McGregor News
