64 Selma Ala Sept 5" 1865 Tuesday I am reading Headleys Life of Bonaparte a very Concise and interesting History of that prodigy with Incidents in the Life of Josephine & Her sacrifices and sufferings. McArthur goes Home in a few days. Gen Maltby is in Town today. the probable successor of McArthur. A very pleasant Shower this afternoon laying the dust but not sufficient for the health of the Inhabitants or good of Crops
