65 Selma Ala Sept 6th 1865 Wedensday Detailed & went on Duty as Officer of Provost Guard, Major S. G. Knee is now Pro' Marshal & Col D. W. McGee of the 47" Ills Comdg Post of Selma. An article was got up today to send to Maj-Gen Thomas asking an explanation of a late order, to the effect that in mustering out Veterans in His Dept the preference is given to Regts. who have the longest time to serve instead of the War Dept order which the word Shortest time to Serve is
