70 Selma Ala Sept 10th 1865 I am much interested in reading Shirley one of the works of Miss Currer Bell whos' Literary name is Jane Eyrie. It has more varied & noble Ideas on Morality and the Domestic relation of Husband & Wife, Parent & Child, than any work of fiction I have ever read. I Can even enjoy reading such Books notwithstanding our untoward Circumstances in this disagreeable place and doing this disagreeable duty
