74 Selma Ala Sept 14" 1865 Thursday I attended the funeral of Mr Evans a Member of Co. E. who Died in Regt Hospital yesterday after a Short Illness He leaves a Wife and one young Son. I feel more sorrow and regret at the Death of our fellow Soldiers now than I did during the Shock of Battle because they all are entitled to their Liberty their Home and Friends now, instead of being Kept here so long, and so needlessly exposed to disease and Death therefrom.
