17 Selma Ala. June. 25th 1865 Sunday wrote a letter to Mrs C. J. Henderson inclosing $5.00. the letter was mostly in answer to one informing me of a misunderstanding between Mr Dunro & Mr. Nester Henderson, I gave my views of the Indiscretion which caused the trouble. I am reading the life of Robert Burns by Lockhart and one is favorably impressed by the fairness & impartialy of the Author, and cannot but feel a Sympathy with, and for, the great, & gifted Poet but in many respects unfortunate man.
