10 Ala & Tennessee R.R. Sept 25" 1865 Monday. Embarked on the Alabama and Tennessee Rail Road at 9 oclock for Talladega. 110 miles from Selma, there was considerable up grade and our progress was very Slow The Engine Small and the train very heavily loaded as the Regiment left Selma with more baggage than at any former time except our first move from St Louis to Smithland? Vi"g. The Country from Selma to Talladega is very light poor Soil & in fact in some pleces nearly barren. Arrived at Talladega at 10 o'clock PM. Byvouacked at the Depot or rather on its ruin
