13 Talladega Ala Sept 28" 1865 Thursday We are now Settled down in the pine woods with not a thing to do but guard our own Q. M. Stores. No one Can imagine how uncongenial it is for the Volunteer & the Veteran Volunteer at that to be Subjected to Such Idle and apparenty useless Services. when all or nearly all of us (are men who from early youth) have been accustomed to active and usefull pursuits, and even now our Friends need our help to prepare our Homes & House holds for the rigors of aproaching winter. I wrote a letter to Mrs Jennie Henderson
