16 Talladega Ala Oct 1st 1865 Sunday Had Company Inspection this Morning, after which I wrote a letter to Judson Henderson my oldest Boy, who notwithstanding His youth has been a great help, and most agreable Company to His Mother, and the insterest His takes in all Home Matters is Surprising for one of His years which is 8. and His kindness to His Mother & Grand Parents, and ready Sympathy for all who are in distress or trouble Makes Him loved and respected by His older Friends and young assocoates, and His love of truth makes Him Some times give a gentle reproof to His younger Brother whos love of mischief makes (Vertically, from bottom right:-) Him more regardles of Strict propriety yet Frank at heart is all right but wild and frolicksome
