20 Talladega Ala Oct 14th 1865 Wedensday Quarter Master Morehead is Ordered for Duty to take Charge of Q.M. Stores at Post of Blue Mountain Ala, Lieut Dunham of Co. "F" is Detailed as Quarter Master of Regt. Pro tem. I wrote a letter to Brother James Henderson with a Statement of our view on Negro Suffrage. I think that it would be far better to prepare them by Education and the Spur of a Noble Ambition to Intelectual acquirement as a requisite previous to Enfranchisement ,instead of turning them over for Steping Stones for Demagogues to mount to power and place. (Vertically, at left:-) Paid order [So 8?] on Regt Fund to Sergt Mathews $15-60/00
