21 Talladega Ala Oct 5" 1865 Thursday I saw a letter from James Henderson Snr to James Henderson Jnr in which I learned of the Death of a favorite Mare Nelly of my Wife's. it is quite a Disapointment to me and the Family More especialy as the Mare was a great favorite with the whole Family. and very gentle & easily managed by the Boys. I wrote a letter to Mrs. Jennie Henderson to day. Went with J. D. Baker?] to the Presbiterian Church this evening and heard a Sermon on the Saving Virtues of Repentance & faith. the Choir Made Sweet Music instrumental & vocal.
