37 Center Ala Oct 18th 1865 Wedensday Reading Some of Byron,s poems. " The Island", I think a very Masterly production in the force of expression and gliding harmony of its Metrical Measure Our Detachment of Cos have been out for two days Consumating the Arrest of Two Men, one of whom lived 38 miles from here over Lookout Mountain in what is Known as Wills Valley The Parties was Mr Larimer & Martin Hale old grey Headed men who were such rampant Secessh that even the Confederate,s blame them, and the present Case is that they Robbed a Woman of Her Cow & Calf they were turned over to the Civil (Vertically, at right:-) Authority for trial But the Military Returned the Cow to the Woman at once
