40 Center Ala Oct 20th 1865 Friday Capt Reed started this Morning for Talladega for the pur". of Drawing pay for Company. I am thus left in Command of the Garrison. Had several Cases of Complaint,s of Freedman, &c. One Case where a Woman asked me to plead her Case wherein she Claims to have been robbed of a Cow, I declined because I had doubts of Her Honesty for one thing, & my ignorance of Court quibles for another. Had another Carse where a Lady asked Council regarding the recovery of Certain Property taken from Her while She was a Refugee from Her Home, Another where a young
