42 Center Ala Oct 21st 1865 Saturday Our teams returned from Jacksonville with 11 days ration for men & stock from this date. I received some blanks from Justice [Saelbury?] and administered the oath to S. K. McSpadden late Col. in the Confederate Army & several other men. I made the Acquaintance of old Dr P, B, Elliot a fine old man who Sacrificed His property to His Union Sentiments. There is also in this place some good Union men Judge [Standerford?] Mr Sharp Lawyer Ramsey Lawyer Whitlock, and they are very sociable and seem anxious to have us with them,
