50 Center Ala Oct 28th 1865 Saturday the Candidates for Congress, & the Legislature &c, are Coming round Now, & those I have yet seen are superanuated men who are entirely unfit for such positions & they give the most diverse reasons for their Eligibility One has it that He never Aided the Rebelion, another that He has, and that one is old, the other is a criple &c, and if we beleive them all neither of them are proper persons for such Offices, which perhaps is the truth.. I Administered the Amnesty Oath to 25 men today,
