51 Center Ala Oct 29th 1865 Sunday Went to Sunday School this Morning, where the exercises Consist mostly in vocal music and the simple reading & chapeter of the Bible, in each Class with scarcely any general questioning from what is Read, the tendency of all Southern Institutions is for Accomplishments or Show, more than Utility. Visited Lawyer Ramsey & Family He has a very fine Library which He places at our use. He has a very inteligent Wife. & a Sweet little girl Lizzie. Spent the evening at Mr Sharps. (Vertically, at right:-) Wrote a letter to James Henderson with $10.00 enclosed
