63 Center Ala Nov 10" 1865 Friday The Case of an Attempted Rape on a young White Girl by a Negro Came up in Court, and Judge Haroldson set the Case over untill next term, as the Laws of Ala makes a Difference betwixt the Negro & white man for the Same offence, and the State Legislature may Correct the matter for the State Code is null & void in Ala now. quite a feeling is manifested against the Negro, and a disposition to attribute Such behavior on the part of Negro,s to their emanciaption, when in fact Such (Vertically, at right:-) Outrages are not so Common now as under the Slave Dispensation
