14 Centre Ala Dec 9" 1865 Saturday Our Team returned this evening with ration up to the 1st of January 1866 and Forage for the Stock to the 25" Dec. The roads were so bad and the load so heavy that the team was about used up when they got to Town. I Recd orders to have all Citizens late of the Confederate Army take off all the Insignia of Service such as Buttons, [here?]. I issued the order as Genl. Order No. 1 and the people show ready Compliance by taking off their brass. We also had an Order No. 35 Dated Head. Qrs. Military Division of the Tennessee Nov 11" 1865 at Nashville
