21 Centre Ala Dec 15th 1865 Friday Sent down our Team or rather Two Mules on a light waggon to Jacksonville with Two Boys of Co. C. who belong to the Detachment there, they have been up here on a visit to some of the young Ladies of Center who Smiled on them while they were Stationed here, Ross Mattocks, & Geo. W. Proctor. I read some in Chaucers Poems, or Canterbury tales, I have access to some very good Librarys in this place. Rode out this afternoon to the Coosa river at Mrs Garretts Ferry on my poney, took a Circuitous ride amongst the Pines Back to Town.
