28 Centre Ala Dec 21st 1865 Thursday Recd a letter from Mrs. C. J. Henderson of date Nov 10" it had been miscarried and was brought through with more mail from Rome Ga. I wrote a letter to G. L. Durno Rockford Ills. Reading Budget of fun [or?] a Book of over a 1000 amusing stories of wit & humor by European & American Celebrities, I Cannot settle down to read anything of a Serious nature for any length of time, as I get restless and uneasy. Weather quite Cold and Clear. the Changes of the weather is quite frequent & Sudden, rain & frost alternately.
