31 Centre Ala Dec 24th 1865 Sunday Henry Steen Came through from Jacksonville bringing Orders for me to move at once to Talladega with the Detachment, as Orders have been received to transfer the 12" Iowa V.V. Infty To Memphis. I was also informed that Capt. Reed has Recd A Commission as Major of the 12" Iowa Infty. I have Recd a Commission as Capt Co. C. Sergt. Grannis 1st Lieut. the Citizens Seem to regret or leaving very much as Some Green Backs are in Circulation since we Came amongst them. Wrote a letter to Mr Clough
