32 Cherokee Co Ala Dec 25" 1865 Monday Left Centre this morning for Talladega. The Citizens all seemed very Sory at parting with us this morning. My Land Lady made some egg nog and insisted on my taking some in accordance with a Christmas Custom of this Country which was the first I ever took. After biding fare well to all the folks, I Started at 10 A.M. and rode through to Jacksonville 30 miles by Sun Set, the roads very bad. Stoped to night with Brevet Major Reed.
