36 Southern Rail Road Dec 29"/ 65 Friday Started from Selma on the Southern Rail Road for Meridian. The bridge across the Cahaba river was broken so we had to transfer all baggage by hand over a foot bridge to west side [where?] there was onely Cars sufficeant for the right wing of the Regt. so our Company with 4 others lay over at Cahaba river 10 miles from Selma. raining very hard Still & continued all night, put up a Hospital tent and kept very comfortable through the night.
