40 Memphis Tenn Jan 2d 1866 Tuesday Co. "C". G. & F of the Regt. were assigned to Quarter in the City. the 7 other Cos. were Quartered at the U.S. Navy yard. No duty assigned to us yet. Very Cold, the Barracks out of repai &c. and the men much disatisfied that we have not orders to muster out. Went to the Theatre with Capt Reed where Henry IV was acted Mr. Hackett as Falstaff. Rather indiferrent performance I thought, & Some of it miserable.
