12 Steamer City of Cairo Friday Jan 19" 1866 We sailed Northwards on the City of Cairo, making rather slow time stoping at all Landings as this is a regular packet Boat. The weather was very mild all day untill we got near New Madrid Mo, where we saw the first floating ice. Soon after dark a Storm Came up accompanied with thunder Lightenings & rain, which soon gave place to a cold freezing North Wind, which made us feel very uncomfortable after our late warm weather in the South.
