16 Oct 14 Fayette Co Iowa 1861 will never [illegible - prevail??] upon our Banner while such in -justice is practised by such a large proportion of this people both North & South we drilled 3 times Today the weather was mild & warm very like the com mencement of Indian Summer, no more furloughs granted after the morning as a a flag will be presented to -morrow by the Ladies
