25 Oct 16 Buchanan Co. 1861 [illegible] with Jane at Fayette then & Harr iet came up to see us start it is so now harder to part the oftner we do it and the longer it is prolonged 17 We took the cars at Independence this morning and [illegible] had Dubuque [illegible] oclock where we formed into line and marched to Camp Union
