33 Oct 19 Dubuque Co. Iowa 1861 The 1st company in camp was uniformed today in plain blue cloth & poor shiny stuff we were deficient in rations of food today. one potato to each man of our mess at a meal & one slice of bread a meal. but plenty of beef & coffee But I dont like it very much that is the beef & coffee
