67 Oct 30 Dubuque Co Iowa 1861 I had my blanket stolen today I can now conceive why soldiers get w -orse in Camp instead of better it is because they are kept cold and hungry and as self pre -servation is the first law of nature men are forced to steal blankets to keep them -selves warm and pot -atoes and other field vegetables when their rations are deficient and they are not to blame
