70 Oct 31 Dubuque Co Iowa 1861 the Colonol of our Regiment is rather a dignafied looking man, but yet he seems to be mild in giving his Commands although his countanance indicates a sharp & nervous temperment But time will test the capabilities of the man. For if he is disposed to look after the Best interests of His soldiers there is great need of His doing so
