73 Nov 1 Dubuque Co Iowa 1861 friends came to see the soldiers and the Ladies visiters Brought a great quantity of nice cakes and delicacies for their acquaintances But we had no further gratifycation then seeing others enjoy a meeting with their friends as there was none of my acquainte -nces or my friends among the visitors. yet there was enjoyment in seeing others enjoy themselves
