93 1861 Nov 5 Dubuque Co Iowa and the noise and Hub bub of the 1000 men going to bed can easier be imagined then described and at half past nine the taps are [illegible] the lights are all put out and in a few minutes scilence settles over the incam -pment and nothing is heard but the challenge of the sentinel as he halts the strag -lers so harmony covers the city
