Sunday August 16th 1885 I helped a little about the work some in the morning and then got out a lot of Wills old letters and destroyed them. I wrote to Will and after dinner Ott and I drove to the cemetery and to the valley taking Edith with us. I wrote a letter to Mays Father in the evening. Monday August 17th 1885 I sewed in the forenoon. Kate Pentzer came in the morning. Hatts girl left today. Kate and Hatt went to town in the afternoon and I fixed up my things and did a little baking. There was company at home in the evening but I went to bed early. Tuesday August 18th 1885 I started at five in the morning for Chicago. The Merry family were coming too. I got to Chicago at half past two where I waited his home. I had very pleasant company all the way to Mishawaka Aunty Walker and Anna met me at the depot. I was made very welcome. I did not get very tired today. Wednesday August 19th 1885 I visited with the folks and wrote a letter home in the forenoon. I went down town in the afternoon and got a letter from Will. In the evening we all went down to the park to hear an open air concert. I sent mother a box of slips to grow for winter plants today.
