Friday August 13th 1886 We had a large washing done before noon and Mother ironed some before supper while Will took Grandma and I over to town. weather very warm. Saturday August 14th 1886 I ironed some this morning and went to the pasture with Will. He traded Nellie more this morning for a little bay three years old of a man who was traveling. we drove her. Hatt was over with the children in the afternoon. I did the mending. Sunday August 15th 1886 Will and I went done to Uncle Jims to spend the day taking Grandman with us. she did not come back. We found the Stevens family there and spent a pleasant day. The evening was spent on the porch talking together. Monday August 16th 1886 It was very warm this morning but Will and I went to town in the buggy. He went to the farm in the afternoon and Mother was in town. I read and wrote a little. Tuesday August 17th 18886 I was over to Hatts all day and Will was hauling grain from the west farm. Weather very warm indeed. Wednesday August 18th 1886 Mother did some washing in the forenoon and Will went to the farm for grain. I helped about the work. In the afternoon Will and I was over town in the buggy Mother and May did the ironing while I was gone. Ott told us in the evening he was going to give a watermelon [the following text is written vertically in the right margin of the above entry] social tomorrow [illegible] for the weather.
