Thursday August 19th 1886 I went out to the pasture with Will and then he took Mother to the old settlers picnic. I was busy about the work most of the day as I had lamps to clean all over the house. Otts social was a great success there was certainly 150 of the teachers here and all appeared to enjoy themselves very much. Friday August 20th 1886 Before noon we had the house and grounds all cleaned up after the social and I have gone to town with Will. Ella Bird and Callie came just before dinner and in the afternoon I rode over with Ellen to have her teeth pulled. Will and Lee went to the valley to bring the cattle home. We were all invited over to Hatts in the evening. Will and I had a very pleasant time but both the boys were too tired to enjoy it. Saturday August 21st 1886 It was scorching hot day. Will and I were driving about some in the morning and then he took Mother over to Hatts. The children were sent over to stay all night as John & Hatt were going to Lisbon for a visit. We all sat on the porch in the evening. I wrote a letter to Ida in the afternoon. Sunday August 22nd 1886 We were all quietly resting at home all day and we had the children to look after. I wrote a little in the evening. Monday August 23rd 1886 Will and I took the children home this morning and when we come back I helped Mother put out the washing. Will made a harness room at the barn. We ironed some and Mother went to the valley after supper with Lee.
