5 Lalla Hatchee River at New Alberry July 17th 1864 Sunday We marched to this place today 11 miles and camped No fighting but many stragling Rebels on our flanks, who shout at our men when they stray to far from the Road. Sargeant Emery Clark of our Company was dan gerously wounded on the 14th just as we were starting on the Charge. His lower jaw & neck is teribely shott -- [illegible]. He had to be left in the Hospital at Tupelo with the Rebel wounded. Sargt Stewert of "C was wounded in arm severe & brought along
