20 Camp at Davis Mills August 7th, 1864 Monday We marched this morning at 8 A. M. in the direction of Holly Springs along the R. Road. the Road was very crooked & rough so that we had to march over 20 miles to day to get to the cold water near [illegible] Station. very hard on the men today and many straglers fell out of ranks from fatigue 15 of Co. "C" stacked arms out of 34 who are out with us on this trip. A. L. Brown & J. C. Davis failed to come up tonight
