22 Holly Springs Miss August 3rd 1864 Wensday The rail Road is now open to this place 4 trains arriving today bringing one Brigade of Infty the 2nd of 1st Div 16th O.C. The Cavilry coming in today is considerable force Gen Hatch in command I wrote a letter to Jane sunday 2 photographs A.K. Ketchum & John [Brigsby? - name] I wrote a few lines to DB Henderson sending all by first Return Train to Collierville & Memphis The inhabitants of this town are the most Independent plain spoken & seemingly upright of any in the state
