26 Holly Springs Miss August 8th 1864 Sunday I wrote a letter to Mr Durno's,s folks at Rockford Mr. Humphrey Chaplin of 12th Iowa Preached a Sermon in the Methodist Church of this place. Very few Christians were present. I also attended prayer meeting in the evening of the Same place. I recd a letter from Col D. B, per John Stien He dont like the Iowa of Recruiting from His Regt. for the [illegible] service as He wishes to Reorganize His Regt for one year or more. very pleasant weather But very Hot.
