38 Abbeville Miss August 19th. 1864 Friday We had orders to march this morning at 7.oclock. and at the time apointed we moved from our late Camp on the Oxford Road; But we were soon brought to a Halt by Reason of Heavy Rains which made the Roads unpassible for artillary and our Heavely loaded Train with supplies. we were ordered back, to old Camp again the rain continues very Heavy all day. Every thing is wet, my blood is in bad Condition by Reason of quinine and wet weather. My face, feet, & body swelled & feverish with eruptions on the skin.
