50 Memphis Tennessee August 31st 1864 Wensday our Regt were mustered for pay to day by Lt Colonel Stubbs. 4 months pay is now due us & 6 months Bounty, We have been very busey since we Came in making out Muster Rolls. Monthly Reports & Estimates of Clothing &c. My Friend Mr McElvain & I had some social talkes on politics & miscelaneous subjects, His memory is stored with Poetry of Burns & all the English Poets &, He told a story of a Young Wifes views with regard to Solomon in a Review of the scripture lesson they had been Reading
