51. Memphis Tennessee September 1st 1864 Thursday I wrote a letter to Jane and had got nearly through when we Recd orders to get Ready imediately to move and I had to bring the letter to a close & mail it. But an order soon Came that we dont start untill morning. I wrote a letter to Brother G L. Henderson with regard to Renting the Farm &c. We finished making the pay Rolls & other monthly Reports, drew Clothing for month of sept. & got ready for the field again generaly. Gen Mower Recd a Commission as Maj General to day He Comands 1st Division /[C O.C.?]
