52 Memphis, Tennessee Sept 2d, 1864 Friday our Regt left Camp this morning and marched to the Levee. & on Board the Transport Mattie, Bound for the White River. I saw Col. Henderson on the Levee. His Regt Came in from Collierville last night and now He is encamped, on the Hernando Road near the City. where He will likely stay untill His Time is up. This has been a dreadfull Hot day & as we are quartered on the Hurricane deck. the Reflection is positively wetting. I was kept awake all last night with severe tooth ache or Nurrallgia
