79 On the March in Arkansas Sept 28th. 1864 Wensday Crossed the Black River today near the Mo line the Cavelry & supply train forded the River. The Infantry Crossed on a Rough Bridge formed by falling timber across the Stream from both sides & meeting in the Centre of the river made a good foot way by laying Rails on a cross the timber. encamped in Missouri. after a march of 14 miles over the most dismal Swamp I ever saw, the thick tall Timber gave the swamps the gloom of night even at noon day. the Supply train got mired & stoped all night in the swamp
