95 Boat Empire City Mo River October 14th 1864 Friday Yesterday I wrote a letter to Mrs. C.J. Henderson, one to Father & Mother, one to A.C. Henderson, We passed the thriving places of Augusta on the north Bank, West Point & Washington on the sout Bank of River, the pacific Rail Road Runs through the later place 50 miles from St Louis. The Rebels under Marmaduke, Plundered the Villiages from Washington to Jefferson City also destroying the Bridges on the Pacific Rail Road. Captain Fowler of Co. "K" 12th. Iowa has been dishonorably Discharged the Service for being Drunk at a time when His Regt was ordered to march against the Enemy, by order of Gen. Rosencrans for the 4th offense of same kind
