Friday July 4th 1884. It was a pleasant morning. I got up early and cleaned the porch before breakfast. The folks all went to town but me in the forenoon. Nearly all the relatives from the valley brought their dinners here and ate in our dining room. We had a splendid dinner and a good visit. There was a hard rain just at night. Charlie and Ed Mc did not go home. Saturday July 5th 1884. I swept and cleaned the house all over and washed out a few things while Mother went to town in the morning. Hatt came over to pick some currants and May went home with her in the afternoon. I put down the carpet in the dining room ironed and helped Mother about putting up berries in the afternoon. Sunday July 6th 1884. I was busy about the house most of the forenoon and slept and rested after dinner. The folks took a ride to the west farm. After supper Father and Ott started to Chicago. John and Hatt were over here for supper and brought Edith with them.
