Monday September 15th 1884. Rob very bad all day he took no nourishment and his cough has stopped. The doctor was here at half past seven in the evening and thought him better. An hour later came a change and at nine oclock he breathed his last. A few moments before he died he thought himself riding on beautiful water and said several times how lovely! His last words were "We'er there" God grant We may all meet him there. John, Hattie Mother, Otto and I were around his dying bed. Lee had gone to the depot to meet Charlie and they were an hour too late to see him alive. Our grief is too deep for words. We shall miss him as long as we live. Tuesday September 16th 1884. We sent for Aunt Em this morning and many friends have been in today to mingle their tears with ours in this great sorrow. Miss Lewis came from Burlington tonight. Mr Cree came in the afternoon with the casket for Robs remains and when he was dressed and laid in the case he looked so natural and good. I love to stay by him.
