John L. Coffin Iowa Land Agency. 130 State St, Boston } Offices { Davenport, Iowa Lands bought and sold. Mortgages negotiated. Taxes paid. Old patent titles investigated. Boston, May 13th, 1873 H. C. Crane, Esq. 20 Nassau St -- N.Y. Dear Sir, I have [secured? received?] here that Thomas Eakin, Treasr, was paid, in 1868-1871, in two sums, $4,021.50 on a/c of the Copper Creek Co., and that Mr Henry Blood told him to keep it at interest -- There are 20,000 shares and 20¢ a share makes $4.000 = The interest should pay Eakin's salary (as there has been nothing to do) and taxes on the 80 acres of land -- Among the stockholders in addition to those you have, are John P [Yelverton?], Danl B [Tanner?], H C Blood and __ [Herglies?] -- Also, Clark, Dodge &c -- I left word for Mr [Trewy?] to give you his proxy, which he will probably do when he finds out the number of shares he has -- I will sell mine (650 Shr) or give you proxy as you may request -- Am going west Thursdy P.
