Charlotte, N.C., Aug 18 1886 William W Durant Esq 20 Nassau St. [Dear?] Sir, I herewith send you a power of Attorney and ask you to have it signed as [indicated?] by the paper itself. This Power of Attorney covers an entirely different interest from the Lemmond Mine tract and is principally the mineral interest in about 700 acres of land contiguous to it. Wheather or not we can dispose of it to any advantage we do not know but we will try. In its present status it is not worth any thing to you - still it is an interest which may be worked off in conjunction with the other property. We do not know what troubles we may have to get possession & entire controll of the property and to provide against all contigencies we have had our attorneys to prepare the accompany
