Mr. R A Springs Esqr Dear Sir Your letter of the 16th received and on reading it I find you have very naturally fallen into an error about the property covered by the power of Atty sent you. The property about which we had so much correspondence & so much litigation belonged to the estate of Chas W Durant. and which was settled more than a year ago by [compromise?]. The property in question or rather the mineral interest in about 676 acres of land belongs to the estate of Thomas C. Durant. No suit has ever been [commenced?] about this property for the reason that when the case of Chas W Durant was [compromised?] - the parties holding the Thomas C Durant interest, agreed to let me sell the property and divide the proceeds equally. This my attorney considered a very favorable settlement for they did not believe that I could ever have recovered any thing by process of law and if I ever made a sale, it would be just
